Man Arrested For Westport Jewelry Store Murder Kills Himself In Prison

A West Haven man awaiting extradition to face charges of murdering the owner of a Westport jewelry store and stealing $300,000 worth of diamonds has killed himself in a Spanish prison, according to law enforcement sources.   Andrew Robert Levene, also known as Robert Thomas, was arrested Tuesday in Spain on federal murder, robbery and firearms charges. Crane Toppled In Stratford

Early Wednesday evening on Ferry Boulevard behind BJ's in Stratford , a crane that was being loaded to be transported to Pennsylvania toppled over while being loaded on the carrier.  Assistant Fire Chief Lance Edwards told us small spill of diesel fuel was quickly contained and posed no hazard to the Housatonic River nearby. DEEP assisted firefighters and oversaw the cleanup with a local contractor.

Man charged in gruesome ax murder

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Florida man has been arrested and charged with murder after police say he hacked Angel "Tun Tun" Gonzalez to death in a Brooks Street apartment and then cannibalized the body.  Police said the assailant later ate a portion of the victim's brain and one of his eyeballs at a local cemetery.   Read full investigative report......

Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Blaze in Bridgeport

Shortly after 2:30pm Monday firefighters responded to a vacant apartment on the 3rd floor at 375 Brooks Street.  Assistant Fire Chief Manuel Firpi told us firefighters opened up the wall to extinguish the fire.  They laid town tarps to minimize water damage to the apartments below.  There were no injuries and the occupants will be able to return to their homes once the fire inspector approves it.

Police Investigate Green Homes Shooting

At 3:30pm Monday police received a call of a shooting at Green Homes Building 5. Green Homes is a large tenant complex on Highland Avenue.  The man was shot  multiple times twice in the left leg, once in the right leg that had a entrance and exit wound.  We are told he was shot in stairwell on the fourth floor.  Police are collecting evidence at apartment 525 when I left the scene and are just beginning their investigation.

Bridgeport’s 4th Homicide

Blood spatter indicated a homicide inside the vacant building and the autopsy confirmed the victim died of blunt force trauma. The victim has not been identified. Driver Escapes Fiery Crash in Fairfield

[caption id="attachment_6168" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Driver Escapes Inferno"][/caption] The driver of a single car accident on Black Rock Turnpike escaped his car in a fiery crash very early Monday morning approximately around 1am.  The crash happened near the water treatment plant at the reservoir just before Hemlock Drive.  EMTs from American Medical Response were already on scene treating the driver.  Initial reports indicated there might be another victim involved in the crash.  Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson told us that they used thermal image cameras to look for heat signatures against the snowy background to confirm there were no other parties involved.   The DEEP and Aquarion were called to the scene for spilled gasoline at the reservoir.   The driver…
