reef road fire 2#FAIRFIELD, CT, April 21, 2013: At 1:20 PM on Saturday April 21, 2013 the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received multiple calls reporting a house on fire at 382 Reef Road.  Fairfield Fire Engines 1,2,4,5,L1,L2,and Car 3 responded. Lt. Bill Tuttle of Engine 1 arrived first on scene and reported that the left front porch of the two story duplex dwelling was heavily involved in fire.  Lt. Tuttle directed members of Ladder 1 to search the building while and the crew of Engine 1 extinguished the fire.  The tenant and sole occupant was asleep on the third floor when he was alerted by FF. Larry Noga, who helped Tom Obst exit safely from the building.  Engine and Ladder 2, led by Lt. Patrick Barry – conducted a primary search of the adjacent duplex and coordinated ventilation operations.  Reef Road was closed for approximately 45 minutes while firefighters completed extinguishing and checked for extension. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Asst. Chief William Kessler of the Fire Marshal’s Office.  Chief Richard Felner also responded to the scene. Asst. Chief George Gomola was the incident commander.
