(Bridgeport, CT – April 9, 2013) – A 54-year-old man was arrested after a tip led to drugs hidden in his bicycle handlebars. While on patrol, Officers Carlos Vazquez, Jorge Larregui and Joshua Ortiz received information from a concerned citizen about a man with a lazy eye who was riding a mountain bike and selling drugs. The citizen stated that the man hid the drugs in the handlebars of his bike.

On Monday at about 10:45 p.m., the officers saw a man matching the description in the area of Pembroke and Arctic streets and stopped and spoke to him. Officers noticed that the tip of the handlebar was broken and that a gray plastic bag covered it. The man, Eugene Edmonds, of Capital Avenue, didn’t reply when Vazquez asked about the bag. Police then found eight glassine folds of heroin from the hollow tube.

Edmonds was charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell. Bond was set at $10,000.
