(Westport, CT) On April 27, 2013, at approximately 6:57am, the Westport Police responded to a report of a Burglary at a residence on Hide-Away Lane. Responding Officers checked the home and determined a suspect had entered during the overnight hours through an unlocked rear door. The suspect went through drawers on the first floor while the residents of the home were upstairs asleep.

After determining the suspect was no longer on scene, the house was secured for Detectives to arrive. The homeowner advised Officers that a purse taken in the burglary was returned to the house by a white male who told them he witnessed another male drop the purse on Hales Road near Hillspoint Road. Officers and Detectives were able to locate the witness, identified as Nicholas Thomas, age 28 of 43 Drumlin Road, Westport. After interviewing Thomas, Detective John Rocke was able to connect evidence of the burglary directly to Thomas, disproving the story that Thomas was a witness. Thomas then gave a full confession to the Burglary. Officers also located narcotics in the vehicle used by Thomas in the Burglary. Thomas was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The suspect information and charges are as follows: Nicholas Thomas, age 28 of 43 Drumlin Road, Westport CT charged with Burglary 2rd Degree, CGS 53a-103, Larceny 6th Degree, CGS 53a-125b, Four counts of Forgery 3rd Degree, CGS 53a-140, and Possession of Narcotics, CGS 21a-279(a)  Bond set at $20,000.00 with a court date of 05/07/13
