During the months of February and March, the Stratfield section of town experienced a series of residential burglaries involving the entry of homes via basement windows.

Det Sgt Granata, Det Fucci, and Det Koval, members of the Burglary Squad conducted numerous surveillance operations in the Stratfield section and developed Nicholas Kulish DOB 8/1/1987, of Madison Ave, Bpt, as a possible suspect.

These investigators monitored Kulish’s activities over a period of time, and developed enough information to obtain a search warrant for his residence, where jewelry and other items stolen from these burglaries were recovered, and subsequently identified by victims.

On 5/30/2013, Kulish, dubbed by some the “Basement Bandit”, was arrested for 6 felony counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, 8 counts of Larceny 3rd Degree, and 2 count of Larceny 1st Degree, for burglaries on the following streets:

Putting Green Rd (2 homes)
Bennett St
Brooklawn Parkway
Davis Rd

His bond was set at $150,000.00 on these charges, however, he has been incarcerated on other burglary related charges since April.

The Burglary Squad will continue investigating his involvement in other burglaries in the Stratfield area during the same time frame, but it is safe to say the basement burglary spree is over.covert logo_bluegreen
