President Obama to Travel to Connecticut

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, March 5, the President will travel to Connecticut and deliver remarks at Central Connecticut State University on minimum wage. The President will be joined by Governor Malloy of Connecticut, Governor Patrick of Massachusetts, Governor Chafee of Rhode Island, and Governor Shumlin of Vermont to discuss the importance of raising the minimum wage and giving hardworking Americans the raise they deserve.   The arrival and departure of Air Force One at Bradley Air National Guard Base are open to pre-credentialed media, but closed to the public.  The President’s remarks at Central Connecticut State University are open to pre-credentialed media and ticketed members of the general public. GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR UPGRADES TO MIDDLETOWN’S DOOLEY POND DAM

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that $2.1 million to fund repairs to the state-owned Dooley Pond Dam in Middletown was approved at Friday’s meeting of the state Bond Commission.  Funding will be used to increase the dam’s capacity, notably during severe weather events.   “The Dooley Pond Dam is in need of repairs,” said Governor Malloy.  “Especially considering the increasingly severe weather we have been having, it is necessary that we have the infrastructure in place to withstand these demands.  I’m glad we could make this happen for the residents of Middletown.”   The Class C, or high hazard, dam, located near Route 17 south of Brushy Hill Road, is currently considered in poor condition, with…

Bridgeport News: Three seriously injured in rollover accident

11:01pm--#Bridgeport CT--Video report shortly.--A van traveling north on Madison Avenue at Queen Street  hit a snowbank and rolled over trapping three. Witnesses told me the they heard a previous impact before the rollover. The also said the van was on fire and the fire department in the front of the vehicle and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before extrication. The extrication was tricky with the van almost on its roof and on top of another snowbank and it took over an hour to get the last person out. No one  appeared to be conscious when loaded into the ambulances.
