On Friday March 13th, 2015 Officers observed two individuals acting

suspiciously in the downtown Westport area. Surveillance of the area was

conducted and as the two individuals walked into the parking lot, one of the

subjects was observed to be carrying a large amount of clothing concealed

under his jacket. The two individuals entered a vehicle and shortly after

drove away. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop with the suspects on Riverside Avenue. Observed in plain view in the rear of the vehicle was clothing from a local store and security sensors which had been cut and lying on the floor. The vehicle occupants could not provide receipts for the clothing and it was later confirmed as stolen merchandise from the downtown store. The total amount of the stolen merchandise was $434.64.

In addition to stolen merchandise, the vehicle occupants had wire cutters, and magnets in their possession. These are tools commonly used to defeat electronic security measures. Arrested were the following two people:

Joel Toro-Pagan (age 25) of Manhattan, New York

Michael Gomez (age 32) of Corona, New York

Charges: Larceny 6th (C.G.S) 53a-125b Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6th (C.G.S) 53a-48 Possession of Shoplifting Device (C.G.S) 53a-127f

Both Gomez and Toro-Pagan had a $2500 bond and given a Court Date on March 23rd, 2015.

El viernes 13 de marzo 2015 Los oficiales observaron a dos individuos que actúan

sospechosamente en la zona centro de Westport. La vigilancia de la zona era

llevado a cabo y que los dos individuos entró en el estacionamiento, uno de los

los sujetos se observó que transportaba una gran cantidad de ropa oculta

debajo de su chaqueta. Los dos individuos entraron en un vehículo y poco después

ahuyentaba. Los oficiales realizaron una parada de vehículo de motor con los sospechosos en Riverside Avenue. Observado a la vista en la parte trasera del vehículo se encontraba en una tienda de ropa y de seguridad locales de sensores que se habían cortado y tirado en el suelo. Los ocupantes de los vehículos no podían proporcionar los recibos de la ropa y se confirmó más tarde como mercancía robada de la tienda del centro. El importe total de la mercancía robada era $ 434.64.

Además de la mercancía robada, los ocupantes del vehículo tenían cortadores de alambre, y los imanes en su poder. Estas son herramientas de uso común para derrotar a las medidas de seguridad electrónicas. Detenido fueron los siguientes dos personas:

Tanto Gómez y Toro-Pagan tuvieron una fianza de $ 2500 y les da un corte fecha el 23 de marzo de 2015.
