#Bridgeport, Conn. (April 9, 2015) – Spring is in the air and that means it’s time for the Bridgeport Tight Lines Youth Fishing Rodeo in Beardsley Park.

“I attended the first fishing rodeo with my kids,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “It is such a fun family event enjoying nature in beautiful Beardsley Park and sharing a common love of fishing. There is so much to do outside in Bridgeport, from visiting the sandy beaches at Pleasure Beach and Seaside Park to casting lines at Bunnells Pond and picnicking in Beardsley Park.”

School Resource Officer Michael Bouchard organized the event. Bouchard also hosted Bridgeport’s first Archaeology Week in 2014 in Beardsley Park and the first Fishing Rodeo in 2013.

The Fishing Rodeo is free and open to kids from five to 13 years old. Bait and tackle is required.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. in the Hanson Exploration Building. At 8 a.m., the fishing competition begins. Awards and trophies will be handed out at noon in the Hanson Exploration Building.
