UPDATE: Bridgeport Police spokesman Tim Hammil : A boater discovered the body of a female floating in Long Island Sound approximately five miles south of Bridgeport Harbor. The Bridgeport Police Marine Unit responded and recovered the woman.

She was pronounced dead and was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).  An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow to determine the cause and manner of death.

The woman did not have any identification on her and there was no report of any waterborne emergency in the area.

At this point, she remains unidentified.  Her race is not readily apparent. She is about 5’3” tall and appears to be in her 20’s or 30’s. She has a medium to slightly stocky build and medium length dark colored hair. She was wearing a gray and black striped sweatshirt with a full length zipper (Brand: “Lucy”, Size: Large) over a black t-shirt (no markings), and black stretch pants. She did not have any shoes or socks on.

UPDATE: Sad to report they did recovered a dead body out in the water.

 

5:11pm–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters dispatched for a water rescue 5 miles south of the Pequonnock River (possibly in the sound) according to Coast Guard reports.
