4:12pm–#Fairfield CT #Southport CT– A kayak was found drifting in Long Island Sound and called in by resident towards the end of Fairfield Beach Road.  Fairfield Firefighters lead by Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola had Marine 228 and 217 launch.  Marine 217 located the 12 foot one person kayak about 400 feet from shore.  A search was conducted and Coast Guard was called in.  After a search of the contents inside the kayak it was determined that there was no one in the boat.  As protocol the Coast Guard did a sweep of the area.
