#Westport CT—On Tuesday November 24th, 2015 Westport Police Detectives served two arrest warrants for Devon Groomes (age 34) of New Haven in Norwalk Court where he was being held on other charges. The two notable arrest stems from lengthy investigations into overnight residential and car burglaries by the Detective Bureau in July 2015.

On July 21st 2015 the Westport Police Department responded to a residential burglary on Woodside Avenue. The victim had reported that his garage was entered and a bicycle was stolen. The bicycle had been recovered on a property of Patrick Lane on July 19th, 2015 and was turned over to the Police Department.

On July 24th 2015 The Westport Police Department responded to a Wilton Road residence where the property owner reported that a handgun had been stolen from her vehicle while parked in the driveway. The hand gun was entered into the state data base as stolen. On September 27th, 2015 the handgun was recovered by the Bridgeport Police Department while investigating a robbery which had occurred in there city. Arrests were made in that incident. While each of the crimes were  eported to be days apart, the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau through its investigation was able to determine that the crimes occurred during the overnight hours on July 18th, 2015. Information from interviews of other individuals arrested and the cell phone information obtained through search warrants was part of this lengthy investigation which resulted in these arrest warrants. Westport Police Department is working closely with the New Canaan and Darien Police Departments in continuing its investigations into a number of motor vehicle burglaries which occurred in the early summer through October of this year. In a number of these cases the credit cards of the victims were used in Connecticut communities and are still part of an ongoing

Arrested was Devon Groomes (age 34) of New Haven Connecticut. Groomes was charged in both crimes with the following:

Burglary 3rd C.G.S 53a-103  Larceny 5th C.G.S 53a-125  Bond for that incident was set at $25,000.00

Burglary 3rd from a Motor Vehicle C.G.S 53a-103 Stealing a Firearm C.G.S 53a-212 Criminal Possession of a Pistol or Revolver C.G.S 53a-217c Bond for this incident was set at $175,000.00 cash only bond. Groomes was unable to post bond and arraigned in Norwalk Court
