#Bridgeport, Conn. – August 11, 2016) – Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced the signing of pitcher Holden Helmink. Holden attended the Bluefish Open Player Tryout at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday, August 8.

“Holden threw really well at the open tryout we held earlier this week,” says Bluefish Manager Luis Rodriguez. “We think he will be a really positive addition to our bullpen and we’re excited to have him join us.” Holden Helmink comes to Bridgeport for his third season of professional baseball and first in the Atlantic League. Last year, the pitcher made twelve appearances with the rookie level AZL Diamondbacks, where he struck out 13 batters in 11.2 innings. The 22-year- old made his professional debut in 2014 after being selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 12 th round of the MLB draft. In 26 career minor league appearances, Holden owns a 4.55 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings of work.
