Bridgeport News: 2 Shot Overnight

11:00PMish–#Bridgeport CT–Just before 11pm Sunday night police began receiving a number of 911 calls for shots fired. Calls from Lorraine Street, Petrie Street, Maplewood Avenue and Colorado Avenue.

Police first found a man shot in the head, laying in the street on Maplewood Avenue near Laurel Avenue. The man’s exact condition is not known but he was talking with paramedics. A short time later a five-year-old girl was reported shot in the hand about two blocks away at Maplewood and Colorado Avenue. I’m guessing she was hit by a stray bullet. Multiple witnesses told me they heard seven shots.

Police also located a crime scene at Petrie Street across from Geraldine Johnson School off North Avenue. A woman was parked across the Street from the Mobil Station on North Avenue with a bullet hole in her windshield. I’m guessing her SUV was shot passing by Petrie Street. A short time later a man called the police to report stray bullet went through his apartment on Lorraine Street.

I spoke with police spokesperson Av Harris who confirmed a man was shot in the head and a girl shot in the hand at those locations. He said it was too early in the investigation to determine if both crime scenes are connected.
