Here are the details on the pursuit and manhunt we were first to report to you as it was happening:

#Fairfield CT– At 4:34pm on 09/03/2017 while conducting Motor Vehicle Enforcement at Exit 19 in Southport, Officers attempted to stop a Dodge Neon with a Stolen License plate. The vehicle fled a short distance (.3 miles) and the sole occupant/operator fled from the moving vehicle which drove across two lawns causing damage and came to rest at a shrub/mailbox on Osborne Lane. K9 Officer Kaesmann and Maverick tracked the suspect through several yards and subsequently located the subject hiding in a side yard on Daves Lane. The suspect was apprehended by K9 Maverick and suffered minor puncture wounds to his buttocks and hand. Suspect was taken into custody and transported by AMR to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he was treated and released. In the suspect vehicle, Officers located several packages of heroin, tools, jewelry, ski masks, latex gloves, a gun cleaning kit and a locked black sentry safe in the trunk of the vehicle.

The arrestee was identified as: Andre Genest (DOB 3/9/1989), of Maple St. in Bridgeport CT. Criminal Charges: 53a-167a Interfering /Resisting Arrest, 21a-279(a) Possession of Narcotics, 53a-64 Reckless Endangerment 2 nd  Degree. Motor Vehicle Charges: 14-223(b) Engaging Police in Pursuit, 14-147a Theft of Plates, 14-222 Reckless Driving, 14-224 Evading Responsibility, 38a-371 No Insurance.
Total bond for criminal and M/V charges set at $5,100. Andre Genest is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on 09/11/2017.
