Westport News: $10K Fundraiser To Assist Texas

On Saturday September 2 nd , Pearl restaurant hosted a Summer Soiree fundraising party on its patio. With partners Valor Spirits and The Greatest Blaze, they donated proceeds from the event to first responders in Westport and Fairfield. Funds were raised through ticket sales, a raffle and a silent auction. A total of $10,000 was raised during the event. During the evening, it was decided by Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas, Westport Fire Chief Robert Yost, Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara and Fairfield Fire Chief Denis McCarthy that the funds raised during the event would be divided amongst the four local first responder organizations and sent to the first responders in Texas to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.  …

Westport News: Banking Fraud Charges

#Westport CT-- On 06/12/2017 at approximately 10:45am, Westport Detective Sharon Russo was advised by People's Bank Security of an incident of fraudulent ATM transactions that occurred at the People's  Bank, 371 Post Road East, Westport on 06/11/2017. Detective Russo was advised that the same suspect was arrested in Darien earlier that same day on the 12th, while conducting the same type of transactions. The suspect, identified as Gabriel Enache, approached the ATM vestibule in Westport and made several transactions using several different cards. Enache was able to use multiple fraudulent ATM cards during these transactions. Detective Russo determined that Enache fraudulently obtained $3,780.00 and attempted an additional $1,400.00 from a total of 27 transactions in Westport. 8 customer accounts were compromised…

Bridgeport News: Cat & Dog Live Because Of Firefighters Efforts

How about showing some love to the heroes at Bridgeport Fire Department who worked for over fifteen minutes to revive a cat and dog at a fire at 235 Remington Street Saturday afternoon!  They also rescued a couple of turtles and a leopard gecko (thanks for identifying Gringa Lala!).  AMR and police were first on the scene and rescued the humans before firefighters arrived.  Way to go everyone!

Bridgeport News: Lots Of Heroism At Fire

4:36pm--#Bridgeport CT-- There was a lot of heroism at a fire at 235 Remington Street. EMS from Amercian Medical Response (AMR) was first on the scene reporting a heavy fire. According to radio reports, they helped get the occupants from the building including an elderly resident with asthma out safely. Firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire. Firefighters did two searches of the home and confirmed human made it out of the building. Firefighters rescued a dog and a cat that were overwhelmed by smoke, they performed CPR and saved both of them. They also rescued a family of turtles and a reptile that looked like a lizard or gecko (sorry, my reptile identification is not that great). The fire…

Stratford News: Burglary Arrest Put Suspects In A Pickle

On 09-04- 2017 Paul Thompson age 21 and Josue Rivera-Suarez age 26 both from Bridgeport were arrested in connection with a night time commercial burglary inStratford. The crime occurred at the Pickel Barrel Deli located at 1889 Main Street.  At approximately 0235hrs three men, Thompson, Rivers-Suarez and an unknown third male broke into the deli and stole a cash register valued at approximately $900 dollars and $130 case. They then fled the area in a gray van. Responding officers reviewed surveillance footage and notified surrounding towns. The pair was taken into custody after a brief attempt to flee from Fairfield and Bridgeport Officers who located the vehicle.
