BRIDGEPORT, CT – Following an approximately 30-day investigation into narcotics and firearms activity in Bridgeport’s East End, the Bridgeport Police Task Force identified Jamin McKoy of Bridgeport and Dayne Johnson of Bridgeport as targets of the investigation.
Lead investigators Detective Carlos Vazquez and Detective Freddy Neal developed information and evidence during the investigation and subsequently obtained court-authorized Search and Seizure Warrants for McKoy, Johnson, and their associated residences.
On August 5, 2026, the Bridgeport Police Task Force, with assistance from the Trumbull Police Department and the FBI, executed the search warrants.
The investigation and execution of the warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 grams of suspected crack cocaine, along with a significant cache of firearms, ammunition, and related equipment.
Police said the items seized included an AK-47-style rifle with rifle ammunition, three handguns, one of which was equipped with a high-capacity magazine containing approximately 30 rounds of ammunition, a firearm suppressor, a drum-style magazine capable of holding approximately 75 rounds of ammunition, and an additional large-capacity magazine.
Jamin McKoy was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Possession of an Assault Weapon, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, and Illegal Possession of a Large-Capacity Magazine.
His bond was set at $250,000.
Police said Dayne Johnson will be charged by arrest warrant. Due to Johnson being confined to a wheelchair, investigators will coordinate the appropriate manner for service of the warrant.
All recovered firearms will be submitted for ballistic examination and entered into NIBIN to determine whether they may be connected to other shootings or firearms-related investigations.
Bridgeport Police said the investigation demonstrates the importance of continued partnerships with local and federal law enforcement agencies. The coordinated efforts of the Bridgeport Police Department, Trumbull Police Department, and FBI resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and suspected narcotics.
