#Bridgeport CT–A motor- vehicle stop Monday netted a .25-caliber handgun and two potential suspects in earlier gunfire.
Sgt. Jason Amato, of the State Police Gang Unit, developed information that the people responsible for gunfire Sunday on Willow Street were back in the Mill Hill section of the East Side.
He spotted the suspect’s vehicle and radioed for patrol officers to assist in a motor vehicle stop. Officer Michael Bouchard responded and attempted to pull over the car on Boston Avenue. The driver slowed but didn’t stop. He proceeded for several more blocks until police blocked him in and he got stuck in stopped traffic.
Police took the occupants out at gunpoint. The passenger, Damion Nimely, 19, was found in possession of loaded .25-caliber pistol and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, weapon in a motor vehicle and interfering with police. His bond was set at $50,000. The driver, 17, also was arrested on criminal and motor vehicle counts.
The rear seat passenger was released without charges. The investigation is ongoing.
