At approximately 12:41 am, Bridgeport Police responded to the area of Boston and Asylum Avenue to a ShotSpotter Activation reporting 52 rounds fired. A victim self-transported to Bridgeport Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
(Stock Footage, not of scene) 5 people were rescued from a capsized boat over a mile off shore of Pleasure Beach in the Long Island Sound. At this time it has been reported that all 5 people have been placed on a Westport rescue boat.

He underwent emergency surgery almost immediately after his arrival and at last check was in critical condition. The victim has been tentatively identified. However, detectives were working to confirm his name and notify his family before releasing it to the public. The Bridgeport Police Department is announcing the arrest of a city man it says is responsible for two shootings hours apart on the East Side on August 1st, 2026. 29-year-old Bridgeport resident Justin Morales has been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm in connection with both shootings. They occurred near the intersection of Boston Avenue and Seaview Avenue. Nobody was injured in either incident. The arrest of Morales was the result of an investigation by the Bridgeport Police Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force.
