DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Stratford News: Checkers Robbery

Here is the press release on the robbery at Checkers we reported when it happened.  Even with a static filled police radio transmission I was accurate in the report! #Stratford Connecticut--On 11-30- 2016 Dishaun Brown age 39 of Bridgeport, Desmond Hunter age 26 ofBridgeport and Davon Taylor age 22 of Stratford were arrested following a robbery attempt at Checkers Deli 1796 Barnum Avenue. After a short foot pursuit and subsequent motor vehicle stop all three were taken into custody. A 9mm handgun was recovered inside the vehicle. The loaded magazine for the weapon was located later on Barnum Avenue near Noble Street where the suspects discarded it. On the state and local level.  If a government official or department head lies to the press and other government officials and gets caught.  Should he/she ever be trusted again?  If they give a press conference down the road on an entirely different topic, are they to believed?  Should the government officials believe that official or department head in future dealings or should all believably be suspect?   What are your thoughts?

Stratford Police Needs Your Help

On 10-22-2016, Saturday, while at the L.A. Fitness in Stratford, 411 Barnum Ave. the pictured suspect broke into the victim's locker and stole two Visa debit cards. The cards were used at the Trumbull Mall on 10-22-2016 between 1:00 pm-2:00 pm.  Footaction, Footlocker, and Champs. Total Loss $561.76   The male is Hispanic, 5'-8", white t-shirt (Possibly a L.A. Fitness t-shirt) , bright blue shorts, black hair, medium build. Is wearing a dark rope braid necklace.

Norwalk News: DUI Checkpoint

The Norwalk Department of Police Service will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint on Saturday December 3, 2016, from 7:00 pm- 3:00 am along the West Avenue corridor. In 2015, 10,265 people died in the U.S. in alcohol-impaired crashes, up 3.2 percent from 9,943 in 2014, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. State Trooper Rollover

UPDATE: According to the accident report, Trooper Matthew Losh was traveling in the left lane of five on the northbound side of the highway when he lost control due to rainy conditions and veered onto the median. His 2013 Ford Interceptor struck the metal guardrail and rolled over several times, coming to a final, uncontrolled stop on its roof. He was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital with a hand injury. There were no indication of any tickets or infractions incurred due to the accident. 12:00am--#cttraffic--#Bridgeport Connecticut--A Connecticut State Trooper rolled his cruiser between exits 5 and 6 northbound on Route 8/25.  There was no word on any injuries on this one vehicle crash.

Stratford News: Police Activity At Checkers
