DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Fire Lit on School Bus

4:22pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police and the Bridgeport Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that was lit on a school bus at the intersection of James and Harral Avenue.  Firefighters said it was minor in nature and the item lit on fire was thrown out the window but they are required to investigate any fire  lit on a school bus no matter how minor.  The age of the students on the bus were unknown and the bus was emptied of all students when I arrived.

4:11pm--#Milford CT--  A domestic fight occurred at the Milford Mall Target and a tall black male wearing a green zip up hoodie and jeans is armed and may be in the wooded area on I 95 according to radio reports.  An ambulance has just been dispatched to the Target store, unknown if this is related.   This report is made possible by:

Keno Coming To Connecticut

(HARTFORD, CT) – Today, the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) announced agreements between the state and the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Tribes that would allow for Keno in the coming year. The accords re-affirm the state’s gaming compact with the tribes and were a necessary step to adhere to Public Acts 15-244 and 15-5. Westport I-95 Crash

The Westport Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident on I-95 South Exit 17 to 16. One person was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport E.M.S. for further evaluation of apparent non life threatening injuries. The Westport Fire Department responded with one Command Car, one Engine and one Rescue Company. The right and middle lanes of the highway were closed for the duration of the incident. Bridgeport News: Structure Fire

10:01pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police on routine patrol call in a fire in the 200 block of Madison Avenue at about the same time a 911 call came in to the 911 dispatch center. Police saved critical time locating exact address as firefighters made their way to the scene. The house turned out to be 215 Frank Street located behind the Brazilian restaurant. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire out. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.

Bridgeport News: White Powder Scare

3:50pm--#Bridgeport CT-- The owner of the Greenwood Insurance Agency at 1757 East Main Street received a scare when a personal package from Amazon.com was opened and they discovered  a white powder mixed in with the packaging material.  Police and an official from the fire department were on scene to investigate.  It is thought to be safe but an official from the state was called in to be on the safe side.  The package was delivered from the US Post Office.
