On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Trumbull Police officers arrested two men who were found in a stolen car, when they were found in a local business parking lot of 2 Whitney Avenue, at around 7:00 am. The two nineteen-year-old men, Rashaun Woods of Stratford and Malachi Stone of Bridgeport, were taken into custody. Officers had responded to the parking lot to investigate the car after receiving information from the owner. When officers arrived, they found the two men sleeping in the front seat of the car, that had been stolen overnight in Bridgeport.
Inside the car, officers found numerous items which are believed to have been stolen during a recent spree of overnight thefts from unlocked vehicles in Trumbull and other area towns.
Both men from the morning arrest were charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and held on $10,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on October 9, 2026.
In a separate apprehension, shortly after midnight on Friday, October 2, 2026, officers located a car in the area of Sterling and Walker Road that was recently reported stolen the day prior out of the Town of Stratford. Officers during this recovery were able to make the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile male from Trumbull whose name is being withheld due to his age. The juvenile male was charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and released to his mother. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 2, 2026.
During the month of September, the Trumbull Police received eighteen (18) complaints of property being stolen from their cars and eight (8) stolen motor vehicles. Many of the cars that were entered had been left unlocked, and some of the vehicles that were stolen had the key or key fob left inside.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at (203) 261-3665, extension ‘0.’
