DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Lenox Jewelry Burglary Arrest

On 11/29/23 at around 11:30 pm, the Fairfield police responded to a glass break alarm at Lenox Jewelers located at 2500 Black Rock Turnpike. When an Officer arrived on scene, he located a vehicle exiting the parking lot of Lenox Jewelers. The Officer was unable to stop the vehicle as it fled at a high rate of speed. Officers confirmed that a burglary in fact just occurred. Entry was made through a smashed out front window and around $56,000 in jewelry had been taken. The investigation of the burglary was then followed up by the Quality-of-Life unit who collaborated with the Bridgeport Auto Theft Task Force. BOLO (Be On the Look Out)

The Bridgeport Police have released a video of a "person of interest "in a case involving a deceased woman found in shopping cart in an East End parking lot in November. The deceased female was identified as 37 year-old Rickeyta Baker, DOB: 01/20/86. of Bridgeport. She was discovered next to a dumpster, behind 1028 Stratford Ave., at approximately 4:00 p.m. on November 3rd, 2023. The department's Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Detectives located surveillance video that showed what appeared to be a male wheeling Ms. Baker into the lot in the shopping cart, three days earlier, on October 31st, 2023. at approximately 3:30 a.m. The same person was then seen on video walking north of Fifth St several minutes…

Ansonia News: Homicide Arrest

#Ansonia CT-- On December 12, 2023, Sahvone Valentine, age 20, of Hartford was arrested for his involvement in the homicide of Abdul-Jalil Humphrey on July 14, 2023 on Hodge Avenue in Ansonia. Valentine was charged with Felony Murder, Murder, Robbery First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery First Degree, Criminal Possession of Firearm and Theft of Firearm. The arrest of Sahvon Valentine was the result of a multi-agency investigation where a second suspect, Jada Artis, age 17 of Ansonia, was arrested on November 3, 2023. Artis was charged with Felony Murder, Robbery First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery First Degree, and Hindering Prosecution.
