His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. Taxi Driver Makes Sexual Advances To Sacred Heart Student

Governor Announces Effort to Reduce Standardized Testing In Public Schools

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the administration is taking two actions to help reduce the time Connecticut students spend taking standardized tests.  In a letter to U.S. Department of Education (USED) Secretary Arne Duncan, the Governor asked for USED to consider how the number of high-stakes exams in Grade 11 could be reduced under existing federal law. In the letter, the Governor writes, “I am eager to explore solutions for the students who may be our most over-tested: our eleventh graders.” One potential avenue for alleviating the burden on the eleventh grade would be to examine whether a college entrance exam, such as the SAT, could satisfy the federally mandated high school exam.  In 2013, 83 percent of Connecticut…

Bridgeport Firefighters Battle Blaze On Wayne Street

#Bridgeport, CT -- Sept. 4, 2014 -- The Fire Department responded to a fire this afternoon on Wayne Street.At about 1 p.m. the department responded to 657 Wayne St. on a report of a house fire. No one was injured.Neighbors helped a child escape the house. Fire Commissioner James Meszoros, who was in the area, also saw the fire. He entered the house and helped an elderly resident out of the home.The house sustained heavy smoke and fire damage to the third floor. The fire remains under investigation.
