DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Gun Sets State Police on Alert

3:03am--#Fairfield CT--A man walks into the Fairfield southbound rest area on the Merritt Parkway.  He gets out, makes a purchase and goes back into his black Porsche.  The attendant calls state police that he thinks he has a gun at his waist.  He made no threat, made his purchase and went back to his car.  Attendant apparently isn't aware of the open carry law is still legal in this state.  State Police is on the way.  UPDATE: He was a New York State Policeman. 2:44pm--#Bridgeport CT--First responders on scene of a single car accident into a utility pole at 525 Madison Avenue.  Report of power lines down and that the driver fled the scene despite blood on the air bag.  Police are searching the area and local hospitals to see if the driver shows up there.  This is in front of the Boy's and Girl's Club.
