DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport Police Charge Man With Robbing Delivery Driver

#Bridgeport, CT – July 31, 2014 – A city man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a July 11 robbery of a pizza delivery driver. According to Detective Art Calvao, the department’s robbery unit charged Howard S. Moore Jr., 21, of  East Main Street, with third-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. A police investigation revealed that Moore made an order to Domino’s Pizza to an address of 735 Huntington Road.  Once the delivery person arrived at the address, Moore asked him to make change.  As the delivery man attempted to make change, Moore robbed him of his money and the pizza. #Bridgeport, CT – July 30, 2014 – A city teen faces charges after a street robbery on Center StreetTuesday. Officer Raymond Ryan was on patrol when he observed a young male on a red bicycle riding past him. A short distance later, the officer was flagged down by a man who stated he had just been robbed by two males. One, the victim stated, was riding a red bicycle. Ryan checked the area and observed the male on a red bike and detained him. The juvenile stated he didn’t know anything about a robbery and stated that he was on probation for a robbery and assault. Man Arrested for Assaulting Ex-Wife  over Discarded Beer

#Bridgeport, CT – July 30, 2014– A city man faces charges that he assaulted his ex-wife who threw away his beer because, she told police,  he gets violent when he drinks. Officers Laura Azevedo-Rasuk and David Santiago responded to 598 Park St. on a report of a domestic assault Tuesday. The victim stated the incident involved her ex-husband, who resides with her. She told police that they argued when he arrived home from work and asked for his bottles of beer. She told him that she drank them. She told police that she, in reality, discarded them because her ex-husband gets violent when he drinks. 3:44pm--#Stratford CT--Burlington Coat Factory at 800 Barnum Avenue Cutoff was evacuated for what was thought a natural gas evacuation.  Turns out it was batteries near the elevator/conveyor belt area over charging.  The batteries were bubbling over and releasing hydrogen sulfate into the air.  The firefighters are now in the process of ventilating the building.
