DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: AZA accredits Beardsley Zoo

The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) today announced that Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo was granted accreditation by AZA's independent Accreditation Commission. Fewer than 10 percent of the approximately 2,800 animal exhibitors licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture are AZA-accredited. Currently, there are only 223 AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums. "By meeting Association of Zoos and Aquariums Accreditation Standards, Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo sets itself apart as one of the top zoos in the world," said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. Bridgeport News: Fire heavily damages Temple

11:41pm--#Bridgeport CT--A fire broke out at 1222 Fairfeid Avenue just before lunch time today.  A Yellow Page website says it is the Fountain of Youth Ministries.  Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire on the second and third floor but attacking the fire was delayed by the need to shovel out fire hydrants first.  According to radio reports the building was occupied but a search for occupants turned up negative.  Firefighters had a handle on the blaze around 12:15pm and are now chasing hot spots.  The fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate.  There were no reported injuries two people are homeless because of the fire.

Bridgeport News : Car crashes into Crossroads Pizza

4:55pm--#Bridgeport CT--Next window please.  A woman in her fifties inadvertently put her car in reverse when she should have put it in drive and smashed through the window at Crossroad's Pizza at 2212 Madison Avenue.  She then put the car in drive smashing into a snowbank.  She and her two children that were in the car were not injured but she did have some sort of "apparatus" stuck on her hand according to radio reports.
