NTSB says track had fracture

#Bridgeport CT--The NTSB (The National Transportation Safety Board) is report that here was a section of rail on the Eastbound track (going toward New Haven) was fractured at a rail joint. This fracture is of interest to our investigators because of some of witness marks on the fracture surface of the rail they said.Today, the track team made a site assessment and has begun collecting track measurements in the area of the accident.

Person wanted in ECSU student homcide turns self in

#Bridgeport CT #ECSU --Jermaine Richards last known address of 115 Beardsley Park Terrace has turned himself in to Troop G State Police Barracks in Bridgeport today after finding out he is a person of interest in the disappearance and homicide of Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Marie Wiley.  Her remains were found off Quarry Road in Trumbull Friday morning, state police confirmed today it was her body found.  UPDATE--Jermaine Richards is being held on $2 million bond and charged with kidnapping and murder.

Bomb Squad on Barnum Ave.

3:33pm--#Strartford CT--Police are investigating a suspicious package at the Citgo gas station at 2000 Barnum Avenue near the propane tanks.  Barnum Ave. is closed at Barnum and Soundivew Avenue.  Avoid the area, John Kovach from the Stratford Star provided this photo and reports that the bomb squad is in the area and that traffic is a real mess so avoid the area.

Man shot, drives to hospital then hits detective’s car

1:11pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police received a call of shots fired on Remington Street.  One person was hit,  he drove himself to Bridgeport Hospital where he crashed into a Bridgeport Police Detective car trying to enter the entrance of the emergency room.  Police have cordoned off an alleyway between Palisades Ave. and Remington Street where 9mm shell casing have been found.  Police are looking for a suspect in green minivan styled vehicle.  The name of the victim or his condition have not been released at this time.  Detectives have been very busy today with a domestic homicide on Ash Street this morning and now a untimely death in the 600 block of Central Avenue.
