Car Into A Building After Crash

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning firefighters, EMTs and police responded to a 2 car accident at Nobel Avenue and Barnum Avenue.    After the impact with the car, the SUV crashed into an iron gate and came resting on a building at the corner.  Four people were sent to nearby hospitals with injuries from the crash.  Police are investigating.

False Carjacking Story Triggers Manhunt in Trumbull

10:26pm–Trumbull–Around 10:25pm Sunday night a “Be On The Look Out” report was broadcasted to local police that a car jacking occurred on Route 8 near exit 10 or 11.  Trumbull Police with the aid of nearby towns quickly set up perimeter on Huntington and Merritt Boulevard, the back side of Huntington Road near Beaver Dam and Hawley Lane at Huntington Road.  Canine from Shelton aided in setting up a track in the wooded area.   About twenty minutes later radio transmissions said “the operator made up the story” possibly to cover up an auto accident.

Circular Wind Blows Tent Tops Off Boy Scout Jam

Orange–We received multiple tweets on our Twitter account that a strong circular wind whipped through the Orange Fairgrounds on Orange taking down many tops and tents at the Boy Scout Jam. Special thanks to @cluise for providing this photo. There are reports of six Boy Scouts injured with two being transported to the hospital for minor injuries. @sherig12 said “closest thing to a tornado I have ever seen in person”. @sherig12: “Large gust of wind lifted tents. Spirally sucked up papers & then went away quickly. <1 min. " From the accounts it sounds as if it were a micro burst or dust devil. If we get any updates we will of course pass them on.

Motorcycle Accident Sends 1 To Hospital

At 08:26am Saturday morning the Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle accident with injuries involving a motorcycle in the parking lot of the Edge Fitness Center located at 500 Kings Highway Cutoff. Fire units arrived on scene and found a motorcycle under the front of a SUV with fluids spilled on the ground. The motorcycle operator was treated on scene by emergency responders for non-life threatening, traumatic injuries and was transported to the hospital by AMR ambulance. The driver of the SUV was unhurt and refused treatment on scene.

Assistant Chief Scott Bisson stated, “The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and it appears to have prevented more serious injuries.” The accident remains under investigation by the Fairfield Police Department.

Fairfield Deli Owner Charged with Embezzling $218K

A three-year investigation conducted by the members of the Fairfield Police Department and several other agencies lead to the arrest of a Fairfield business owner for allegedly embezzling money from a trio of elderly residents under the guise of friendship.  Carmella Jamshidian, 54, of Madison Avenue in Trumbull, was charged with first-degree larceny by scheme after she allegedly pilfered $218,408 in a single year from three elderly siblings who live in Fairfield, Detective Jason Takacs said. She was issued a $50,000 bond and is due in court on May 24. Fairfield Patch has the full story…..

#Bridgeport–Reports say the shooter that shot the 3 year old in Bridgeport has been arrested.  Police have arrested Anthony Small, 20,and he is being held on $250,000 bond.

63 were arrested in New Haven on federal drug charges. All are to be arranged at New Haven Federal Court by the end of today.   Judges being brought in from Hartford, Bridgeport and other areas to assist.   This was in the Chapel area.  The  Army National Guard facility at Southern Connecticut State University was used  for processing the suspects. There is a very heavy security presences.

12:55am –#Bridgeport–Man sliced in the arm from a knife  by two women in his home during a domestic argument at 1334 North Avenue.

10:43pm–#Stratford–Walmart has 4 shoplifters in custody waiting for police.

8:12pm–#Bridgeport–Police break up a fight between sisters fighting with knives at 135 Center Street 2nd floor.

6:20pm–#Bridgeport–Neighbor on the the 2nd floor at 135 Washington Avenue threatened the 1st floor neighbor with a handgun.

 

Just a reminder when shopping to not leave valuables unattended in the shopping cart. A woman shopping at Kohl’s in Fairfield just had her purse stolen that had her credit cards, cash, cell phone and car keys while it was in her shopping cart. There was no one around her when it occurred but when she turned back to her cart the purse was gone. Police will check surveillance video to see if the crime was recorded.

12:12am–#Bridgeport–Worker at the electrical plant on Atlantic Street fell off a ladder and sustained a leg injury.

2:04am–#Bridgeport–A car jacking just occurred in the Hollow section of town.  Taken was a gray 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck with union stickers in the back window.  Taken from the victim besides his truck was his wallet and cell phone.  A gun was displayed and used to pistol whip the victim.

#Milford–11:30pm–The 7-11 on Old Gate Lane was just robbed.  Police are looking for a black male wearing a white hoddie, blue pants and blue gloves.  He was blocking his face.  He fled in a unknown SUV direction not known.

5:33pm–#Bridgeport–False report from an untraceable 911 disposable phone sends police to Atlantic Street for a false report of a man with a gun and then a false call of a fire at Leo’s Pizza at 100 Atlantic Street.   Last week there were a couple of false reports of a shooting in front of the restaurant.

2:42pm–#Bridgeport–Police investigating a found backpack with a shotgun in it under the I-95 overpass at Smith and Beardsley Streets.

4:30am–Bridgeport–Basement fire at 248 Iranistan Avenue.  Fire marshal quickly requested to the scene.  Reports say an explosion was heard prior to the fire.

2:22am–New Haven– Shooting at 182 Dixwell Ave. with a man shot in the chest and stomach. Police on scene.   Victim was transported to the hospital in traumatic arrest.

2:09am–New Haven–New Haven Police have a crowd problem at Crown and Church Street which is now closed to traffic.

1:48am–West Haven–Report of multiple people shot at 209 Boston Post Road is Jp’s Sports Bar.  New Haven Police requested to assist West Haven Police.

12:52pm–#Bridgeport–Pedestrian struck at the corner or North Ave. and Madison Ave.

11:36pm-Bridgeport–Chinese Deliveryman robbed outside 158 Logan Street.  A firearm was displayed.

7:52pm–Trumbull–Report of a structure fire on Blackberry Road.

1:12pm–#Bridgeport–Bank Robbery at TD Bank-at 975 Madison Ave. Man fled on foot, dye pack found nearby.

11:14pm–Bridgeport–Bed on fire at 400 block of Wells Street. 11:21 UPDATE–No fire, mentally disturbed person called it in.

9:42pm–Stratford–Walmart has a family of shoplifters in custody. Police on the way.

8:28pm–Bridgeport—Blind man jumped by a group of teens in front of 1157 East Main Street. EMTs had to call police to clear the group so they could treat the man.

Drunk driver collided head-on with Bridgeport sergeant

BRIDGEPORT — A man police say was drunk led officers on a wrong-way chase through a large swath of the central city Thursday evening before colliding head-on with a cruiser and injuring a sergeant.  Sgt. Philip Sharpe suffered a knee injury and was brought by ambulance to St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment. The suspect, Demar Thompson, 37, suffered a head injury and is being treated at Bridgeport Hospital, where he remains under guard.   CT Post has the full story……..

One Dead Three Shot In Bridgeport Trumbull Gardens

Around 11:15pm Wednesday night police rushed to 555 Trumbull Avenue, Trumbull Gardens for multiple calls of shots fired. We are told three were shot, one confirmed dead, a possible second homicide but that has NOT been confirmed. There were two areas taped off, radio reports said the first victim was shot near the the administration building between the larger tenant buildings. The more active crime scene was across the street. We know one party drove himself to St. Vincent’s Hospital but we are not certain of his condition. As with all breaking news facts change quickly but we will update you as the information becomes available. Earlier there were three other shooting in Bridgeport, one on East Main Street, one on Iranistan Avenue and then at Main and Charles Street. This is Bridgeport’s ninth homicide of the year.
