His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: One Dead, Two Injured In Family Stabbing On Laurel Avenue

Bridgeport Police arrested a 44-year-old man early Monday morning after they said he fatally stabbed one family member and injured two other relatives during an incident at a home on Laurel Avenue. Police said Jahmar Whittingham was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived in the 960 block of Laurel Avenue around 5:00 a.m. Officers encountered Whittingham in front of the house holding a large kitchen knife. Police said he dropped the knife when ordered, but then told officers they would have to shoot him and refused further commands. Bridgeport Celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. The day has since become a time to reflect on the end of slavery in the United States while also celebrating Black history, achievement, family, and community pride. In Bridgeport, the holiday brought people together to honor that history while enjoying music, food, vendors, fellowship, and family-friendly activities. For many, Juneteenth is both a celebration and a reminder of the long road toward equality, justice, and opportunity. Duct Fire @ Fire Engine Pizza

Bridgeport Firefighters were called to Fire Engine Pizza on Fairfield Avenue for a structure fire. Assistant Chief Cronin told us they discovered a fire in the flue/duct work that extended to the roof, which they quickly extinguished.
