Connecticut Receives Improved Finance Rating

For the first time in more than a decade, Connecticut received upgraded ratings for two bonds from Moody’s Investors Services, a shift that could lead to reduced borrowing costs from the state in years to come. Connecticut’s bond rating went from A1 to Aa3, its fifth-highest to its fourth-highest, placing Connecticut firmly in its “high quality” bond category. With this upgraded ranking, the state could be able to access reduced rates in future funding for projects including school construction, infrastructure upgrades and economic development programs, among others.This is the result of more than a decade of hard work by legislators to manage the state’s budget and debt payments. Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Critical After Being Struck

2021-04-04@2:13am--- The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received the report of a Motor Vehicle vs Pedestrian / evading crash in front of 520 Boston Avenue in Bridgeport, CT. A dark colored Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound on Boston Avenue, after passing Huntington Rd the operator struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The operator of the Jeep Wrangler was traveling at a high rate of speed and after striking the pedestrian continued eastbound on Boston Avenue without stopping. The pedestrian was identified as a Alvin Nieves. Bridgeport Fire Department and AMR responded to the scene. Mr. Nieves sustained severe injuries to both legs and was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital. Mr. Nieves is listed in stable but critical condition…

UPDATE: The fire was thought to have started on the second floor as an electrical fire. There is NO building, renters or business insurance. 2021-04-03@12:22pm--#Bridgeport CT-- #ctfire-- Firefighters battle a 2 alarm fire in the 1100 block of Madison Avenue. A business and apartments were damage by fire and water. There were no reported injuries. The fire marshal was called in to determine the cause of the fire.
