DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fairfield News: Little Willy Pursuit

Fairfield Police UPDATE: On 3/27/2021 at 1:30pm, Police were called to Petco at 340 Grasmere Avenue after receiving a suspicious person complaint.  A police investigation revealed Tevin Clarke (28) approached a customer inside Petco and began making complementary statements that were unprovoked and unwanted by the customer. As the customer moved away from Clarke, Clarke reached out his hand and made inappropriate sexual contact with the customer. Clarke immediately fled Petco, however was found by officers minutes later at the Fairfield Metro Station where he was positively identified as the suspect. Tevin Clarke was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree, Public Indecency, and Breach of Peace.  He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on…

Ansonia News: Middle School Bomb Threat

#Ansonia CT--On March 26, 2021 at about 11:45 A.M. the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F. B. I.) contacted the Ansonia Police Department to report they received a complaint that a person threatened to blow up the middle school. After consulting with the Ansonia Board of Education, a decision was made to send home the Pre-K students, all other students were on a remote learning day. The decision to send the students home was done out of an abundance of caution. A check of the school inside and out by officers and staff did not reveal anything suspicious. Bridgeport News: Police Involved Crash

Bridgeport Police UPDATE: Police said the officer was responding to a burglary in progress and had the lights and siren activated. The officer and two others in another car were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. 2021-03-26@5:25pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police are investigating a crash involving one of their own at the intersection of Fairfield and Iranistan Avenue. The officer and at least one other person was injured and taken to the hospital with unknown inuries.

RELAXING STATE LAWS ON OUTDOOR DINING

HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont is applauding the Connecticut House of Representatives for unanimously voting today to approve legislation that codifies into state statutes the executive orders he issued during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that relax restrictions on outdoor dining at restaurants and enabling these businesses to provide expanded service to their customers outside. The legislation permits restaurants to operate under these relaxed rules through March 31, 2022, and allows municipalities to expedite permanent changes to their zoning rules if they wish to expand the availability of outdoor dining and retail activity. Late Rent or Utilities?

UniteCT is a recently launched program to help Connecticut households financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with rental and utility payment. The program through the Department of Housing (DOH) is available to help households up to 80 percent of the HUD Area Median Income (AMI). Also, households in the state are eligible for the additional circumstances: qualified for unemployment or have experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19, or demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
