His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. Fairfield Police Warn of Sextortion

FAIRFIELD — Chief Christopher Lyddy and the Fairfield Police Department would like to warn residents of recently reported "sextortion" phishing scams and remind residents of important safety tips regarding scams. In recent weeks, the Connecticut Intelligence Center (CTIC) has received reports of "sextortion" phishing scams from citizens throughout the state. The scam often involves victims receiving an email from a purported hacker claiming to have hacked their computer and filmed them watching pornography. The scammer then threatens to forward the material to all of the victim's contacts unless the victim pays a Bitcoin ransom. Fairfield News: Water Rescue

2020-04-27@4:03pm--#Fairfield CT--  A child came to a home in the 900 block of Fairfield Beach Road and told the homeowner that her family was on a raft out on Long Island Sound and needed help.  They called 911 and police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.  There were five people in the inflatable raft that the police boat rescued.  There were no injuries.  The five from Brooklyn, New York were brought back to where they had parked and were told not to return to the water in the raft.

Westport, CT – First Selectman Jim Marpe provided the following update and reminders today. As we are all aware, the Coronavirus crisis is ongoing. Bridgeport News: Car Attempts To Strike Police Officer

Police UPDATE: On Sunday April 26, 2020 at 2313hrs a BPD Officer came over the radio reporting that a vehicle just attempted to strike him as he was approaching it near Huntington Road and East Main St. The vehicle, that was determined to be stolen out of Greenwich based on the plate information provided by the officer began to flee at a high rate of speed leading police on a short pursuit towards the highway. Once approaching the highway, BPD called off the pursuit however; all surrounding PDs along with the State were provided the description of the vehicle and license plate over the police hotline. Bridgeport News: Fire In An Abandoned House

2020-04-26@5:30pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called to a fire in the 1300 block of Iranistan Avenue (near Behanm Avenue).  When firefighters arrived they had smoke showing from the front door and discovered a fire in the basement.  The fire extended to the first floor but they quickly extinguished the fire.  Their primary and secondary searches found no one inside the house.  There was a fire in the same home a year ago but the building has been vacant since.  There were no reported injuries and the fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
