DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

#Westport, CT – Human Services Director Elaine Daignault reminds residents that the Westport Prevention Coalition (“Coalition”) launched an online Community Readiness Survey (CRS) to measure public perception of substance misuse and mental health issues in Westport.  The survey was created in partnership with Westport’s Local Prevention Council, the Westport Prevention Coalition and Positive Directions - The Center for Prevention and Counseling, as part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to address issues related to substance misuse and other health needs of the community. Bridgeport News: Cops Rescue A Woman From Burning Car

At 4:15am Bridgeport Police Officer Ramirez came upon a motor vehicle accident on Chopsey Hill Road involving a single vehicle on its driver side and on fire with an occupant still inside. Officer Ramirez attempted to get the occupant out through the passenger side window, but the occupant could not reach her hand. Sgt. DeBarros arrived on the scene and also attempted to get the occupant out by trying to break the front window. Jurassic World Visits Wakeman Boys and Girls Club

Last week, the children at Wakeman Boys and Girls Club were treated to an exhibition put on by Jurassic World and the Webster Bank Arena. The children were able to get a sneak peak in the behind the scene magic that goes to putting on a show like Jurassic World Live Tour and how they bring the animals to life. They also stressed the teamwork aspect of the show, like how they do stunts, motorcycle stunts or aspects of the video wall. Westport News: Road Closure For Bridge Work

Westport, CT - Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich reminds the public that the first phase of work on the Kings Highway Bridge over Willow Brook will be commencing on February 24.  This first phase will involve the installation of a 36-inch diameter sleeve underneath the existing bridge to accommodate a 24-inch waterline.  This is an important first step in the effort to replace the existing bridge later on in 2020.   In order to facilitate the work, it will be necessary to close Kings Highway at the actual bridge location.  All residents and businesses that are adjacent to the bridge on either side will be able to access their properties during construction, but the bridge itself will be closed.  It…

Trumbull News: Warrant Round Up Leads To Stolen Vehicle Recovery

#Trumbull CT-- On Thursday, February 20, Trumbull Police detectives conducted a warrant sweep to serve outstanding arrest warrants on local criminals in the area, which resulted in four (4) arrests and the recovery of a stolen car. Detectives coordinated efforts with other local police agencies to track down individuals who have not been held accountable for criminal incidents that they had been involved in, and during this time, a recently stolen vehicle was recovered.
