2022-08-13@ 0913:am the Bridgeport Police received a report of a person “that fell onto the tracks: at the Bridgeport Train Station and subsequently was struck by a train. BPT Fire, Police, AMR and Metro North Police, and Operations teams are all on-scene. No further information as to the extent of injuries at this time. This is an active incident and investigation.
2022-08-13@1:51am–#Bridgeport CT– Report of a possible shooting at Barnum and Knowlton Street.
Police UPDATE:
On August 13, 2022, at approximately 1:50 am Bridgeport Police received reports of multiple parties struck by gunfire in the area of Barnum Avenue & Knowlton Street. Bridgeport Police Officer Corey Baldwin was in the vicinity and observed the crime in progress. A Chevrolet sedan connected with the shooting began to flee the scene and engaged Officer Baldwin in pursuit. Officer Baldwin pursued the Chevrolet sedan throughout the City and eventually into the north end. The vehicle came to a stop on Terrace Circle where the operator, and a single front passenger, fled the vehicle on foot. Officer Baldwin exited his patrol car and pursued the operator who was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest. The passenger is still at large. Two semi-automatic handguns were located and submitted into evidence. The suspect operator has been identified as 33-year-old Steven Hutchinson of Bridgeport CT. Hutchinson will be immediately charged with a motor vehicle and weapons violations. Additional charges to follow.
During the time of this pursuit, additional Patrol Officers continued to the scene of the shooting. Upon arrival, the officers determined several gunshot wound victims had left the area moments earlier in private vehicles headed towards Bridgeport Hospital.
Patrol Officers secured the crime scenes and notified the Detective Bureau (DB). The DB Homicide Squad has taken charge of the investigation. They are being assisted by Detectives from the Identification Unit (forensics). The Detective Bureau is currently in the process of interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at three crime scenes (Barnum Avenue & Knowlton Street / Bridgeport Hospital ER Entrance / Terrace Circle).
Police responded to the Bridgeport Hospital where they identified 3 victims, one of which was pronounced deceased. The deceased is a 21-year-old Connecticut man. The police department has notified the deceased next of kin. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. The two remaining gunshot wound victims are Connecticut residents; one is 22 years old and the other is 21 years old. The surviving victims received serious injuries and have been admitted to the hospital.

Police UPDATE: On August 11, 2022, at approximately 2117 hours the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a call of a motor vehicle accident at Grandfield Ave. and Success Ave. The caller stated, a Jeep later identified with misuse pates struck two parked vehicles, and the operator (Andre S. Pickens of Monroe, CT) was ejected from his vehicle and came to rest underneath a parked car. American Medical Response, Bridgeport Fire Engine # 6, and the Bridgeport Police were dispatched to the location. The units arrived on the scene, and it appeared a 2001 Yellow Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on Grandfield Ave. and struck two unoccupied vehicles in the eastbound lane and came to rest on top of the second vehicle’s front end. The operator (Andre S. Pickens) was standing in the roadway with a severe head injury. American Medical Response arrived on the scene and transported Mr. Pickens to Bridgeport Hospital. The scene was secured, and the Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team was notified and requested to come to the scene. The Emergency Operations Center received a call from a female party at approximately 2120 hours. The party stated, that her vehicle was hit by a Yellow Jeep at the intersection of Boston Ave and Success Ave. The Jeep made a right turn onto Success Ave. and left the scene. Party stated, that she would be waiting at the Shell gas station. Units responded to her location and confirmed she was traveling west on Boston Ave in a 2010 Gray Honda Civic and stopped at the red light at Boston Ave. and Success Ave. She was struck in the rear by a 2001 Yellow Jeep, and the Jeep turned right onto Success Ave. and left the scene. She stated, that she didn’t sustain any injuries from the accident and refused medical attention. The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team arrived on the scene and reconstructed the scene. Officer Judson Brown Jr. and Officer E. Quiles made a follow-up to Bridgeport Hospital to interview Mr. Pickens and check on his status. Mr. Pickens was unable to give details of the collision and unable to complete a Written Field Statement. Mr. Pickens sustained several lacerations on his head. Officer Judson Brown Jr. and Officer E. Quiles were able to obtain video footage from the Shell gas station located at 1917 Boston Ave. The video confirmed the female party’s statement.The Serious Crash was assigned to Officer Judson Brown Jr. Anyone with addition information is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS.2022-08-11@9:17pm–#Bridgeport CT– Two people were reported injured in this crash on Grandfield Avenue.

2022-08-09@1:51pm–Firefighters were called for smoke in the attic on Cogswell Street. When they arrived they found a fire in the attic. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with two hose lines. Everyone made it out of the two-family home safely and there were no reported injuries.

2022-08-08@9:12pm–#Bridgeport CT– #cttraffic– Firefighters were called for smoke on the third floor at 1430 Fairfield Avenue. When firefighters first arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the 3rd floor. Within minutes they reported a working fire with heavy fire showing from the left side of the building. Firefighters made sure everyone made it out of the building and began battling the fire. Within 45 minutes they had the bulk of the fire knocked down. I saw one firefighter being checked out by EMS for heat fatigue. Bridgeport Firefighters have been working without a contract for TWO YEARS now. Come on Joe, you can do better !!
