Bridgeport Celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. The day has since become a time to reflect on the end of slavery in the United States while also celebrating Black history, achievement, family, and community pride. In Bridgeport, the holiday brought people together to honor that history while enjoying music, food, vendors, fellowship, and family-friendly activities. For many, Juneteenth is both a celebration and a reminder of the long road toward equality, justice, and opportunity. Duct Fire @ Fire Engine Pizza

Bridgeport Firefighters were called to Fire Engine Pizza on Fairfield Avenue for a structure fire. Assistant Chief Cronin told us they discovered a fire in the flue/duct work that extended to the roof, which they quickly extinguished. Over 40 Rounds Fired

Bridgeport Police responded to the area of Stratford and Carroll Avenue due to ShotSpotter activation reporting 48 rounds fired. There is heavy police presence in the area and no reported victims at this time. The Department is investigating and will provide any updates when they become available.
