Bridgeport Police UPDATE: Firefighters on the scene awaiting CT DEEP on Fairfield Avenue just off the Exit 25 I95 Southbound Ramp for a report of 30-40 gallons of heating oil that spilled onto the roadway and possibly in the storm drains. Exit 25 Southbound is closed to traffic. Public Safety Committee to Hear Testimony on Bill to Deter Drivers from Illegally Passing School Buses

On Tuesday, March 12, at 1:30 p.m. the Public Safety and Security Committee will hold a public hearing on legislation that would give municipalities the option of adopting monitoring systems to detect motorists who illegally pass a stopped school bus and issue offending drivers a $250 fine.  Unsafe driving near school buses represents a danger to students and has been a pressing concern for the panel’s co-chair, Sen. Valle was taken into custody in Pine Prairie, Louisianna on March 8, 2023, and extradited back to Bridgeport, Connecticut to face charges for a violent machete attack that occurred on Central High School property on June 18, 2023. The original press release read: On June 18, 2023, at approximately 8:15 pm Bridgeport Police responded to Central High School (1 Lincoln Blvd) on the report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. Upon arriving in the area, police officers located a 26-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from a very large wound to the abdomen. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s “Cool Blue” Program Offers Free Saturdays to Bridgeport Residents

Bridgeport, CT – Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is offering free admission to the zoo every Saturday from now until June 29th as a part of their Cool Blue Bridgeport Initiative for Bridgeport residents. Cool Blue Bridgeport is intended to connect with the citizens of Bridgeport and empower them to take action to help address the effects of climate change. Each month will spotlight a different animal at the zoo and there will be free programming onsite at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
