2:46pm–#Bridgeport CT #ctfire– Report of a kitchen fire at 59 Stone Ridge Drive. Firefighters are on scene reporting that there is smoke coming out of the building. The fire is reportedly knocked down.

#Bridgeport, Connecticut– Hey kids, have you always wanted to work for a professional sports team? Now is your chance! The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the “Kids Run the Ballpark” essay contest, presented by All Kids Dental.
All interested participants are asked to write a short essay (no more than 250 words) detailing why they want to work for the Bluefish. They then will select ten contest winners, who will be invited to shadow and assist a Bluefish employee on Sunday, April 30, 2017. This is when the Bluefish take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard at 1:12 pm. Available jobs include: general manager, field manager, grounds keeper, public relations/baseball operations, radio broadcaster, ticket sales, community relations, on-field promotions, stadium operations, and mascot handler.
“We are thrilled once again to partner with All Kids Dental for this special contest,” said Bluefish General Manager Paul Herrmann. “Last year’s winners as well as the Bluefish staff all had a wonderful time, so we are excited to bring this fun promotion back. This is a great community initiative that gives kids the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.”

UPDATE from Bridgeport Police: On March 18, 2017 at 1355 hours, Gregory Francilme 3/20/98) and a second male were shot while outside 201 Bretton Street. Francilme was shot in the head and died last night at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The second male victim underwent surgery at St. Vincent’s and is expected to survive. The motive for the shooting is currently being investigated, but detectives have identified a person of interest in this shooting, and anticipate that an arrest will be made shortly.
#Bridgeport News: Today at 1:55pm, a shooting incident occurred in the rear of 201 Bretton Street. This is an apartment style complex, consisting of several buildings. Two male victims, 19, were shot at this location near the rear entrance. Victim # 1 sustained a gunshot wound to his head, and was transported by medics to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. Victim # 2 sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was also transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He is expected to survive. The crime scene was processed by detective from the Identification Unit, and detectives are working to identify the person responsible for this shooting. Any person with information about this crime is asked to call police at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
