“Officers reacted immediately and pursued the gunman on foot,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “Officers converged on the area and the suspect was quickly arrested hiding behind a house on Saunders Avenue. And, police recovered a handgun.” Detectives arrested the suspect, identified as Gregory Weathers Jr., 33, of 449 Saunders Ave., for murder and gun charges. At this time, no motive had been established. The suspect and victim did not appear to know each other. The shooting happened at Chopsey Hill Road and Pond Street just after 9 a.m. The victim worked for Burns Construction company that was performing road work on Pond Street. The Greens Farms Volunteer Fire Company will hold its 64th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4 on the grounds of Long Lots School, Hyde Lane, Westport at 2:00 PM. Children will hunt for the eggs in age groups through age ten. Children finding special marked eggs will receive Easter baskets. The Easter bunny will be there to meet and greet the children. A seventh and eighth grade history teacher Eric Johnson at Park City Magnet School in Bridgeport challenged his school to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Research Center. The goal was to raise $1,000 but the school far exceeded that goal raising $2,5000. The third graders raised the most money and each student took turns shaving his head and beard.
