Westport News: Fatal Accident I-95

8:20pm --UPDATE: Firefighters report the northbound lane has reopened. 7:11pm--#cttraffic--#Westport Connecticut-- I-95 north and southbound is a parking lot with a fatal crash at exit 18.  Fairfield firefighters arriving to assist Westport on the southbound lane according to radio reports.  Avoid the area, they highway will probably be closed due to the accident investigation. Fairfield News: Pedestrian Hit

UPDATE: Sad to report that the woman, Patricia Barger, 86 died of her injuries. Sharon Ranney was the driver of the striking vehicle. No charges have been filed at this time. 8:02pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- Witnesses said an older woman darted in the busy Black Rock Turnpike near Katona Drive and was struck by a black Lexus. First responders said the woman was unconciouss and EMS worked to stabilize her before transporting her to St. Vincent's Hospital. There is no crosswalk at that intersection. The driver of the Lexus was visibly upset and was cooperating with police.

Fairfield News: House Fire

4:19pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- There were no injuries and no one at home at this house fire on Longfellow Avenue. When the call came over the scanner I knew it was close. I ran to the scene with my camera, set it up and ran to the house with another person who kicked in the door. I yelled fire in the front as he ran to the back, we were relieved no one was inside. I then directed traffic to get the cars off the road so that firefighters could get their trucks to the scene. Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson said it appears the fire had started on the back deck. Fairfield News: Catamaran Water Rescue

5:44pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- Firefighters and marine units were called for a water rescue of a catamaran that had its mast break off.  A sailboat came to its rescue and began towing it back in as marine rescue units arrived.  The Fairfield marine unit assisted with the tow and lecture on the importance of personal flotation device use. 5:44pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- Los bomberos y unidades marinas fueron llamadas para un rescate en la agua de un catamarán que tenía su mástril quebrado.
