Video Report–Three Fairfield University Students Rescued From Long Island Sound

@FairfieldU–Firefighters from Fairfield rescued three Fairfield University students who drifted about one and a half miles from land Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson told me.  He said they were very lucky to have made cellphone contact to rescues workers.  The women were able to stay on the line and remained calm, assisting in helping locate them.   Cellphone reception at sea can be very spotty.

At first it was thought they were at the point near St. Mary’s by the Sea and drifting out.  The gusty winds quickly blew them further out past the lighthouse.  None of the students were wearing any life preservers.  There were no injuries.

Fairfield Police’s Stealth Cruiser

#Fairfield Connecticut–If you have driven by this police car you may do a double take to make sure you are correctly seeing a police car.   Fairfield has two “stealth” cars in their fleet.  Lieutenant Perez told me that people act differently when police are present.  The stealth cruiser hopes to catch law breakers in the act.  I would guess if you see a car with a spotlight mounted on the driver’s side would be the best clue!  Westport was one of the first police departments to have a stealth car in it’s fleet.

Fairfield University Big Brother Security

@FairfieldU #Fairfield University–It will be interesting to see how the under aged drinking  on campus will go this weekend, but security is like big brother this week.  Anything moving has “eyes” on it, every vehicle plate number is recorded, so many “new voices” on the radio.   I wonder if it will continue next year?
