UPDATE: Possible suspect detained on Maplewood Avenue. 11:29am--#Fairfield CT--#Bridgeport CT--Fairfield had two shoplifters leave Stop and Shop on Villa Avenue. They took off in a stolen van, a short pursuit ensued but broken off by Fairfield Police when they crossed the town line. Bridgeport and Fairfield have located the van abandoned in the 1400 block of Park Avenue. Police are looking for a white female with blond hair wearing a white tank top and Hispanic male with a black doo rag , he also has a tear drop tattoo under his left eye. UPDATE: Rafael Vasquez, 25 of 181 Hampton Street, Hartford was arrested when the stolen vehicle he was riding in was spotted driving erratically near exit 18 in Westport. State Police attempted to pull the car over but lost sight of it near exit 16. Police learned the vehicle was stolen out of Mamaroneck, New York which lead to speculation from reporters that it may have been one of the escaped convicts from Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6. State Police fielded calls from People Magazine afterwards. Westport Police picked up the pursuit on Route 1 heading towards Fairfield and Fairfield Police entered the chase when they entered their town. First Selectman Tetreau announced that the Town of Fairfield’s Shellfish Commission will host a clam clinic event at Sasco Hill Beach on June 20, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for local residents to learn about Fairfield’s natural shellfish resources. “This event provides an opportunity for Fairfield residents, including children, to experience the basics of harvesting shellfish while learning the importance of Fairfield’s natural shellfish ecosystem,” said Robert Bilek, Chairman of the Shellfish Commission. Participants will be taught harvesting techniques and can keep their own catch. Gear, including clam rakes and gauges, will be provided if needed. 11:50am--#Fairfield CT--A Fairfield Warde High School girl called police that a man tried to lure her into his pickup truck while walking home from school this afternoon. The seventeen year old tearfully told police that a white male with white balding hair attempted to lure her into his "nicely fixed up" pick up truck. The truck was last seen on Melville Drive.
