2:00pm–#Stratford Connecticut–A Dichello Distributor union replacement driver hits the overpass off exit 31 in Stratford on Broadbridge Avenue near the Gulf Station. Dichello union drivers have been on strike since May 28th but has not been getting any media reporting on the strike. The viewer that sent this in says the replacement drivers are not familiar with the route which is obvious in this crash. If you belong to a union or support unions you may want to think of this if you go to purchase beer for the holiday weekend.

Stratford News: Tobacco Compliance
On June 20, 2016 the Stratford Police Department and staff members of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP), conducted anannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco products. The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of eighteen.
Under the direction and supervision of DMHAS investigators, an underage youth employed by the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, entered the establishments and attempted to purchase tobacco products. A total of nineteen (19) unannounced compliance inspections were conducted.
Of this total, three establishments were found to be in violation of the General Statutes of Connecticut, Sec. 53-344(b), Sale of Tobacco to Minors under Eighteen. The offending clerks at these establishments were issued and infraction in the amount of $200.00. The Cigarette Dealer License holder at each establishment also faces additional administrative sanctions from the Department of Revenue Services the state agency that issues Cigarette Dealer Licenses.
The establishments found to be in violation are as follows:

Boston Ave Mart, 265 Boston Ave.
Walgreens, 1601 Barnum Ave.
It should also be noted that the following businesses were found IN COMPLIANCE with the law:

Stratford Police Officer Hit By Car
2:35am–#Bridgeport Connecticut–#Stratford Connecticut– A Stratford Police Sergeant was hit by a car while on a manhunt in Bridgeport on Park Avenue near Herkimer Street. Stratford Police responded to 7 Woodend Road in Stratford where suspects attempted to break in to the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant. A pursuit ensued onto I-95 exiting at 27A where things were thrown out of the car by the suspects. They exited to Route 8/25 where they exited exit 2, again throwing items out of the car. State Police assisted in recovering the items.
The sergeant walked to the ambulance with EMS, was checked out and released. There was one person in handcuffs at the scene.
Stratford-Bridgeport News: Pizza Shop Robbery-Pursuit-Manhunt
1:11am–#Stratford Connecticut–#Bridgeport Connecticut–Stratford Police were in pursuit of a silver Hyundai on I-95 and the pursuit ended behind Central High School. They are now near Herkimer Street. Police are looking for two Hipanic males both wearing jeans, one a white t-shirt. They attempted to break in to the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant at 7 Woodend Road in Stratford.

Video: 2 Cats Rescued In Stratford House Fire
Around 10:45 Wednesday night, firefighters were called to the area of Stratford and Main Street to investigate smoke in the area A short time later firefighters discovered a house fire in the 1600 block of Elms Street. Firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor and attic. No one was home at the time of the blaze. Firefighters rescued two cats and EMS provided oxygen to help revive them. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Stratford Connecticut–Today, Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport, Stratford) and Representative Joseph Gresko (D-Stratford) joined Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour to announce a $25,000 state grant for the Stratford Police Activities League (P.A.L.).
“Our communities are safer when we work together,” said Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport, Stratford). “This grant for the Stratford P.A.L. will help fund more activities and opportunities for Stratford police officers to build relationships and trust with the youth in our community. Our kids are safer when they are building character and leadership skills in programs like the Police Explorer Program and various athletic leagues.”
“Securing the funding for PAL fulfills the commitment that police officials have made to Stratford. The PAL program has really been rejuvenated, and this funding goes a long way. I also want to thank Senator Gomes for going to bat for PAL. It’s great when everyone comes together to represent Stratford and secures important funding for the town,” Rep. Joe Gresko (D-Stratford) said.
The Stratford P.A.L. is an organization of law enforcement officers and civilians who work together towards the positive development of our youth. Every dollar raised is used directly for the benefit of the many programs sponsored by the PAL.
