6:32pm–#cttraffic–#Stratford CT–#Milford CT– A one car rollover on I-95 northbound on the Moses Wheeler Bridge near exit 34.  Jump off before the bridge onto Route 1 to avoid delays. and then get back on I-95

2:17pm–#Stratford CT–Today’s vehicle fire is being hosted in Stratford in front of 1964 Broadbridge Avenue.  A car is reported to be on fire.

11:40am–#Stratford CT–Firefighters called to 1700 Broadbridge Avenue where a toaster ignited a couple of tiles on the counter.  It did not extend anywhere else in the kitchen.

9:58pm–#Stratford CT– Firefighters have two lines in operation for rubber burning inside a chimney at Major Tire at 80 Century Drive.  Firefighters are in the process of dismantling the chimney which is a steel pipe.

#Stratford CT–This month the prescription drug box at Stratford Police Headquarters reached the one-ton mark in collection of unwanted and unused medications. The drug box was installed in the police department lobby in October 2013. It was a collaborative effort amongst several Town departments, including the Stratford Police, Health, and Community Services Departments with the support of the Office of Mayor John Harkins.

“When you consider the fact that most prescription bottles weigh just a few ounces even when filled, to reach the one-ton mark in a relatively short period of time is remarkable”, said Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour. “We thank the citizens for taking advantage of this service. It shows that the people of Stratford are committed to keeping these dangerous drugs out of the Stratford Health Director Andrea Boissevain added, “I am pleased that so many Stratford residents are properly disposing of their unused medication. I would also like to remind everyone of the importance of safeguarding their medications in their homes.”

Tina Senft-Batoh, the Town’s Conservation Administrator stated, “The drug drop-off program is so important not only socially, but environmentally. Most pharmaceuticals, whether metabolized or not, can find their way to inland wetlands and estuarine habitats like Long Island Sound. These pharmaceuticals can disrupt the normal life strategies of various organisms. So please do your part and continue to dispose of your medications properly by using the prescription drug

To celebrate the occasion, a small gathering was held on January 15 at Stratford Police Headquarters in honor of Police Corporal Brian Norko, who is in charge of ensuring that all of the items collected in the drug box are properly disposed of.

 

11:04pm–#Stratford CT– EMS on the way to Sikorsky Aircraft at 6900 Main Street for a person with a head laceration. This is the second time EMS went there tonight for someone with lacerations.

4:00pm–#Stratford CT– A kayaker is stuck on Long Beach near the marsh unable to paddle back.  Stratford first responders on the way requesting Bridgeport assistance.
