Man Arrested After Stand-off With Police

(Bridgeport, CT – June 20, 2013) – A 40-year-old man was arrested after an animated, hours-long stand-off with police Wednesday night. Devin Robinson, of 227 Edna St., cursed at police and threw household items at them from a third-floor window as they attempted to talk him out. The standoff began Wednesday at about 6:50 p.m. when Officer Stacey Lyons was dispatched to the location. She spoke to his ex-girlfriend, who stated that Robinson had been acting “crazy” for several days and moved most of his belongings out. Four Police Officers Released From Hospital After Large Fire

Four police officers injured while evacuating two houses during a major fire Wednesday all have been discharged from the hospital. Officers John Carrano, Carlos Pabon, John Topolski and Matthew Goncalves all were treated for smoke inhalation after they arrived at 181 Poplar St.  and worked to evacuate residents from that house and one next door. “They went above and beyond,”  said police Capt. Robert Gearing, who checked Wednesday night on the officers. The officers were in the area and arrived before the fire department to find the house ablaze. “This is one of the more dangerous situations for a police officer.” The cause of the blaze, which caused very extensive damage, remains under investigation but police said it is being…
