6:19pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A delivery person called police to report that a money bag containing over $1,500 in cash was taken while he was making a delivery to a mini mart in the 800 block of Madison Avenue. This news report is made possible by:
#Bridgeport CT-- Today Bridgeport Police demonstrated "fatality tents" they purchased for $4,000 from Stop Rubbernecking (SRN). The screens are designed to shield victims from the public and the press. The tents are made from denier nylon which is claimed to be military grade. The tent can be adjusted from three and a half feet to six and a half feet, a beacon light the color choice of the customer can be mounted at the top. It comes with a fifteen-pound ballast bag to secure it to the ground and SRN says it can sustain thirty miles an hour winds.
1:11pm--#Fairfield CT--A tan pit bull entered a yard in the 200 block of Berkley Road threatening the children of the residence. A short time later police report two pit bulls were fighting in the yard. Animal control was called to the scene.
#Norwalk CT--On July 25, 2017, Patrol Officers responded to a suspicious person complaint on Washington Street. Officers located the suspect, Carlos Olivera on North Main Street. The Norwalk Police Department held an active arrest warrant for Olivera stemming from a sexual assault investigation conducted by the Special Victim’s Unit. SVU began the investigation on July 20, 2017 and quickly learned that Olivera had sexual contact with a victim who was known to him. During the assault, Olivera threatened to kill the victim’s family members if the victim told anyone. On July 24, 2017, a member of the Special Services Division conducted an undercover buy/bust operation. During this operation, an undercover officer contacted Derrick Wiggins, who officers had learned was selling crack cocaine in Norwalk. The undercover officer met with Wiggins and found him to be in possession of crack cocaine. Officers then moved in and arrested Wiggins on New Canaan Avenue near Tindall Place. Wiggins resisted arrest and was tased before officers were finally able to secure him in handcuffs.The crack cocaine that Wiggins was in possession of field-tested positive for the presenceof Fentanyl. 9:11am--#Bridgeport CT-- You often hear me say how the firefighters in our area make difficult things looks easy. It, of course, does not happen by all by itself. This morning Bridgeport Firefighters conducted a drill of a man trapped in a confined space with hazardous materials at the RESCO plant at 6 Howard Avenue. They also worked with the Fairfield County Hazmat team in the simulation in how to handle and deal with the hazardous materials.
