Bridgeport News: Sad News Surrounds Homicide #8

#Bridgeport News: On April 24, 2017 at 1115 hours, Bridgeport Police responded to Greene Homes, building 3 on a report of an unresponsive male infant. This infant was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital and then transferred to Yale- New Haven Hospital for advanced care. On April 25, 2017 this child passed away. On April 26, 2017, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the child and classified the death as a homicide. The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to process evidence and interview witnesses. The victims identity will not be released due to their age. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS (8477). (Bridgeport Police Press Release)

Bridgeport News: Busy Day For School Resource Officers

#Bridgeport CT-- Police Resource Officers were kept very busy today:   11:46am--A seven year old second grader assaulted a kindergarten teacher at Wilbur Cross School at 1775 Reservoir Avenue.   11:57am-- Drugs were confiscated from a student at Achievement First School at 529 Noble Avenue.   12:40pm-- A student in the main office at Dunbar School at 455 Union Avenue was assaulting staff members.   This news report is made possible by: http://www.allkidsdentalct.com/

Bridgeport News: Murder Suspect Apprehended

#Bridgeport CT--On September 29, 2016, Cristobal Hernandez was shot and killed inside El Paraiso Restaurant located at 1026 Madison Avenue Bridgeport. Detectives identified Douglas Rivas (6/15/82) as the person who shot Hernandez, and on September 30, 2016, Detective Cintron secured a warrant for Rivas' arrest, charging him with Murder, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon. The U.S. Marshal's Violent Fugitive Task Force began looking to Rivas, but at the time, he was not located. Rivas' photograph was distributed to the media to facilitate leads in the case, and detectives received several tips from the public. Derby News: Smoke In The Middle School

UPDATE:  At 11:30 AM a strange odor was reported at Derby Middle School. Our emergency system was activated and a code green was called. Students evacuated to the auditorium at the high school. 911 was called and fire and police responded. Utilizing a thermal imaging detector, it was determined the source of the odor to be coming from a computer monitor.  The fire department cleared the building and students and returned to their classes.
