BRIDGEPORT — A city man found shot to death outside an East Main Street barbershop Monday afternoon is the third homicide victim in Bridgeport in as many days, police said. The latest homicide — the city’s 14th of the year — came as police continue to investigate two weekend shootings that left a 15-year-old girl and a 30-year-old restaurant owner dead. BRIGHTON, Colo. — The boy with an inoperable brain tumor who was sworn in as Brighton’s youngest police officer died Friday, police said. In May, Brighton Officers Anna-Marie Cuney, Levy Slagle and Cpl. Monce Portillo swore in Rubio-Pavon during a ceremony in his hospice room. He was presented with a certificate officially recognizing him as a member of the Brighton Police Department, a police uniform shirt and a junior officer badge. 2:33pm–#Stratford–#ctfire– Possible drowning at Short Beach. Reports say an older man was stumbling around. He went into the marsh, and police lost sight of him. When they found him a few minutes later he was in chest high water and not breathing..
2:10pm–#Bridgeport–#ctfire–An oven being cleaned at 696 Beechwood Avenue ruptures it’s gas line and a reported fire scorched the kitchen wall. Firefighter used a thermal camera to verify the fire did not extend into the walls.

12:07am–#Bridgeport– Shots fired at 1000 Maplewood Ave. after tenant received threats. Police are investigating.
Just before 2am Saturday morning police that shots were fired on Brooks Street. Multiple calls came in about multiple victims. In the end 3 were shot, it is unclear if they were shot inside a residence or outside of 444 Brooks Street. One person was shot in the hand, another in the shoulder and the most serious was shot in the head. Police gave pursuit on a suspect matching the description of who they were looking for down Brooks Street towards Shelton Street. A perimeter was set and police canine was on the scene but it was not know if they apprehended the suspect. Police said the person shot in the head was in very serious condition. Bridgeport just just investigate the twelfth homicide in the city two hours earlier on Wood Avenue.
Just after midnight Saturday morning police received a call for shots fired at 1000 Beechwood Ave. The victim said she had received threats prior to the incident. Almost immediately afterwards another call at 46 Wood Avenue with a man down. It is unknown if the calls are connected since they are over a mile apart.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where police confirmed he died of his injuries. Police are looking for a black male with braids who fled in a black or blue mini-van with squeaky breaks. Police are investigating.
Shortly before 3:oopm firefighters responded to a structure fire at 540 Woodside Ave. in Bridgeport’s north end Friday. Assistant Fire Chief Dominick Carfi told us that the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen which sustained heavy damage. The fire did not extend to the roof and the house did not sustain heavy structure damage but it did receive heavy smoke damage. An investigator arrived on the scene a short time later and the fire remains under investigation Chief Carfi said it appears to be accidental.
Dozens of mourners came to Lake Mohegan Thursday evening. 10-year-old Catherine Perez Trujillo drowned in the spot where mourners placed flowers in the waters Tuesday around 7:15pm. Catherine was swimming with her mother and other family members when she went under. She remained under water for about 45 minutes. First responders worked in vain to revive her.
