(Westport CT) On Thursday June 23, 2016 at approximately 3:21am, Westport Police K-9 Officer James Loomer was patrolling residential neighborhoods in the Northwest sector of Westport as there had been a recent increase in overnight car burglaries and stolen vehicles in that area. K-9 Officer Loomer observed a black BMW that was stolen from the night before. He attempted to stop the vehicle, but it drove out of the area at a high rate of speed. A short time later, Officer David Perez located the same stolen vehicle traveling on Post Road West in the area of Lincoln Street. Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund

#Fairfield Connecticut--6/22/2016-- Wednesday the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund presented checks to their scholarship winners. In addition to the 18 scholarships given out internally to our children we also have awarded $4,000.00 at our public High schools. The high school awards are being given out on 6/15/16 on awards night at the High school.   The Fairfield Police scholarship fund was started in 2014 by Lt. Keith Broderick as a way to help reduce the high cost of college for the children of our police officers. The fund has grown tremendously in the last two years and every officer in the department contributes every year toward the fund. Westport News: Cat Rescued

#Westport Connecticut--Westport Fire personnel were on a fire safety stand-by for the Fairfield County Hunt Club Horse Show when they were approached by an employee who reported that she had a kitten trapped inside her car. She stated that when she stopped at a Dunkin Donuts in Norwalk for a coffee she found someone looking under her car near the front tire. This person told her that he saw a kitten jump up under her car while she was inside the store. They looked for a while and did not see any evidence of the cat so they assumed the cat left and she drove to Westport to work at the horse show.
