Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Hit In Front of St. V’s

4:44pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters were first on the scene and assisted a pedestrian that was more shaken up than hurt after being hit by a car at the corner of Main Street and Hawley Avenue.  The victim walked into the emergency room for treatment.  Police are investigating.  The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Trumbull Police Pursuit Ends In Crash in Fairfield

1:03pm--#Trumbull CT--#Fairfield CT-- A man wanted for attempting to run over a Trumbull Police Officer at the Trumbull Mall is in custody but after hitting a citizen's car sending it into a garage with serious injuries according to sources.  I'm told the car was being chased with six Trumbull Police cars in two on the Merritt Parkway when they exited the highway at Black Rock Turnpike and crashed on Congress Street near Hoyden's Hill.  Police would not let me anywhere near the scene which is very unusual for Fairfield  so I contacted Frank Recchia of News12 to dispatch the  News12 helicopter.

Bridgeport News: Man Shot

5:34pm--#Bridgeport CT--Witnesses say 3-4 shots were fired at the corner of Brooks and Spring Street.  The victim was shot in the leg and made his way half way up Spring Street near Kossuth Street where he was met by police and EMS.   Witnesses said a lone gunman fled on foot towards Nobel Avenue.  The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with a NON-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.   Always first on DoingItLocal!  No need for expensive cable to get your local news!  Delivered fresh to your phone!

Fairfield News: Sprinklers Prevent High Density Catastrophe

2:55pm--#Fairfield CT-- Sprinkler systems prevented a major fire in the high density apartments at 130 Fairchild Avenue on the second floor.    The dead end street is clogged with emergency vehicles as the opponents of the high density apartment have claimed would happen in an emergency.  Firefighters find a heavy smoke condition on the second floor and are now reading high carbon monoxide levels throughout the building. Firefighters are in the process of ventilating and because of the carbon monoxide levels each apartment must be metered by the firefighters.  Two people are being evaluated for smoke inhalation.
