Senator Murphy Tours Fairfield Metro Train Station Progress

#Fairfield Connecticut-- Senator Murphy toured the Fairfield Metro Train Station on Tuesday along with First Selectman Michael Tetreau, State Senator Tony Hwang and other legislators.  Senator Murphy was observing the new mixed use development underway at the old Fitness Edge at the corner of Commerce and Black Rock Turnpike.  First Selectman Tetreau said he hopes the state will send some of the newly approved federal “Transit Oriented Development” (TOD) funding to the area.   When I asked the senator how Bridgeport's proposed new Barnum Train Station won't suffer from the lack of business development that Fairfield's Metro Station did he said that these are never easy projects, but that there hasn't been much development since the whole country went into catastrophic…

Bridgeport News: Money Stolen From St. Margaret’s Shrine

11:31am--#Bridgeport Connecticut--The candle money inside St. Margaret's Shrine at 2523 Park Avenue was stolen.  Police are looking for a white male, about 5'8" with dark hair.  He was wearing a green shirt with writing on the back, long jeans shorts, white socks with red stripes and boots.  He fled towards the back of the chapel on Norman Street Extension towards Suburban Avenue.  Police located the opened cash box.  Approximately $20 was taken.  If you see a man matching this description call Bridgeport Police at 203 581-5100.

Fairfield Awarded $375,000 for Black Rock Turnpike Planning, Engineering and Pedestrian Safety Study

First Selectman Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield, in partnership with the Connecticut Metropolitan Council of Governments (MetroCOG), is pleased to announce that $375,000 in Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LoTCIP) funds have been awarded for the Black Rock Turnpike Planning, Engineering and Pedestrian Safety Study. The Study will involve analyzing and selecting preferred alternatives for road, bicycle/pedestrian, and safety improvements. The recommendations identified by the Study will increase safety for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians and will link one of the Town’s primary commercial districts to adjacent residential neighborhoods. Today at approximately 11:00am, Westport Police received a 911 call from employees of Chase Bank, 184 Main Street, reporting a robbery. Responding Officers determined that a middle aged white male entered bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect indicated he had a weapon, but did not display one. An undetermined amount of money was taken and the suspect left on foot south on Main Street.   Anyone with information should call the Westport Police Department main number at 203-341- 6000 or the Detective Bureau directly at 203-341- 6082.
