Fairfield News: Volunteer for FairTV Commission

The Town of Fairfield is seeking an unaffiliated registered voter interested in being considered to serve as a volunteer on the new five-member FairTV Commission We have four candidates currently going through the appointment process but need a fifth to join them on this new commission.  Additionally, the Town is currently seeking volunteer residents of various political affiliations to fill current and anticipated vacancies on other boards and commissions including the Economic Development Commission, the Employees Retirement Board, the Ethics Commission, theGreater Bridgeport Transit District Board of Commissioners, the Harbor Management Commission, the Land Acquisition Commission and the Shellfish Commission.  For a complete list of board or commission vacancies please visit www.fairfieldct.org/vacancies for information on how to be considered for any of these appointed volunteer positions. Westport News: “Man” Hits Girlfriend Then Dog

On Wednesday May 13th 2015 Westport Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between two people living together. During the investigation it was alleged that the boyfriend had become physical with his  girlfriend and then struck her dog prior to throwing it outside of the house. Additionally there was a protective order in place for the suspect from a prior domestic incident. Arrested was Martin Smiley (age 67) of Westport Connecticut Smiley was charged with: Criminal Violation of a Protective Order C.G.S 53a-223 Disorderly Conduct C.G.S 53a-182 Cruelty to Animals C.G.S 53-247 Smiley was issued a $2500 bond and was issued a court date of May 14th, 2015 at Norwalk Court. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Welcomes Six Piglets

BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - May 15, 2015 -Hampton J. Pig and Olivia have done it again - welcoming a litter of six again this year - the sixth year in a row these lovers have produced piglets. Hampton and Olivia are both eight years old Guinea Hogs. The six piglets, as well as their parents, are currently on exhibit at the Zoo through the summer season. Visitors are invited to come to the Zoo to meet the rambunctious new additions to the Zoo's family.   "All of the piglets are doing well and spend their days eating, sleeping and playing with their siblings," reported Zoo Director Gregg Dancho.   The piglets range in weight from just under one pound to two pounds.…
